In September 2009 Ashburton Junior School will become (subject to the outcome of consultation) Oasis Academy Shirley Park. This blog has been set up so that past pupils, staff and anyone who remembers Ashburton Junior School can leave their memories of the school.
I can remember during my time at the school (1953 - 1958) during one of the "pea soup fogs" that we only found our way out of the school playfround at the end of school by forming a long crocodile with a teacher at the front and walking to the school gates on Long Lane and the relatively btight area illuminated by street lights and the oil lamps placed at each crossing and junction.
hello every one! I have been there,in 1998 to 1999, I m Iranian,accually I was a foriegn student in Ashburton!My teacher was Mr.Griffin,so my class name was 6G... I m trying to find my friends , and my likly teacher...I miss u so much Mr Griffin! thanks Mojtaba
